Time passes
There is promise in the air. We spent the last few days shovelling dirt and rocks and more dirt. We've decided that the huge pile of dirt from the sewer line work is just going to sit there and settle over the next year and we'll worry about it in the spring.
For now, we're going to concentrate on the back and get it finished and pleasant so we can spend some time this summer just enjoying our home.
To that end, we rebuilt the rock garden which meant putting down drainage in a swale covering it in pea gravel, then river rock, and replacing all the large rocks that had been moved to create the drainage channel.
The idea is to avoid the boggy areas that we were getting when it rained. All the elevations were professionally surveyed, engineer has approved, my husband and I have put in sweat equity.
The patio is getting close to done and then we need pathways to the gates and the garage and the fence replaced.
The perennial bed is now in and dangerously close to being done--it's certainly much more pleasing than the hard packed mud that was there!

Next, it will be sod, some shrubs and pass the gin and tonic please!
