The fun continues

Look back to my last posting. Check out the photo of the front of our house. Imagine how excited I was to have to dig up all the shrubs and plants under that open window last night.

Yup, that's right--I dug them up. In a moment of cleverness, I called the plumber to come and clean out our lines as we get tree roots in the pipes at this time of year each year and then we get a back up in the basement. Best to avert this, I thought.Be proactive, I thought.

As it turns out, that was a good thing to do as we have a broken sewer line and it has been discovered before everything collapsed on us. However, it means that we have to have a trench dug in our front lawn to the house, jackhammer out part of the basement floor and get new pipe laid.

More good news is that the new pipe is a plastic material and seamless so no corrosion and no tree roots. And, it should all be done in one day so I can replant those poor, hapless plants this evening if it isn't raining too hard. I suppose that more good news is that it isn't going to be hot and sunny so the plants won't have to worry about being burned or dried out.

Prior to the arrival of the Good News Plumbing Bear yesterday, I was ironing fabric and planning out the back for my bed quilt. I don't know if I have enough fabric yet, but I can give it a good start. This project is taking far longer than it should, but sometimes things are like that. I am happy to see how much fabric is disappearing from my stash and have some grand plans for how I can deal with some of the pieces remaining in that particular bin.

My plan is to incorporate photography into some pieces. I've done this in the past on a limited scale and now feel ready to try something a little more ambitious. So, new camera in hand, time to go for a walk!
