Being resilient

Very gradually, the gardens and yard are taking shape. Things contine to move along slowly, but slowly is better than not at all. Indoors, less is going on and that's a little frustrating. It's amazing how much effort and work are involved in running a home and when you add in renovations, well, it's a lot some days.

Yesterday I was out to a friend's place to take advantage of her offer of perennials as she continues to downsize her garden. Then, it was home again to get it all in the ground before anything could die. Just the ferns left to plant and they can't go in until some more progress happens in the back.

In the meantime, I took the time to look carefully at all that has been done in the yard and my eye was drawn to a bergenia plant. It's always lovely, whether in bloom or not. It's strong and resilient, grows in full sun or full shade, drought or flood. It spreads slowly so you can develop a lovely big display, or easily keep it under control. In short, a breathtakingly perfect plant.

So, I decided that it's time to think like a bergenia--just accept what gets offered up every day and make it work.
